Hi all,

You've got a newbie to the boards, here. I'm finishing up my MPH this Fall. My undergrad degree is in a non-science field.

I've decided to pursue medical school (it's one of those long drawn out stories...maybe I should have listened to my 10 year old self and I would have saved myself a few years). Was wondering if some posters could weigh in on my potential schedule for post-bacc? I'm looking at enrolling in my local state school (possibly through their post-bacc program, but am not married to the idea). Will be my first experience at a large state school, as my other university experiences are all at private institutions.

I was thinking something like this:

Fall 2011
-Calculus
-finish MPH
-work full time

Spring 2012
-Gen chem 1
-work full time
*any recommended class for this time??

Summer 2012
-Physics 1&2
-Gen chem 2
-work part time

Fall 2012
-Bio 1
-Orgo 1
-work part time or not at all

Spring 2013
-Bio 2
-Orgo 2
-MCAT
-likely no work

Is this something you'd recommend? I'm trying to avoid taking bio orgo and physics at the same time, but I'm open to doing that and not working, if you think that's a better route. I realize this is a bit wonky, as I'd be starting at a less traditional time of year, thus the scheduling is a bit off. But I'd rather start sooner rather than waiting until next summer or Fall--seems like I'd be wasting more time than necessary).

Would love input from anyone with similar experience.

If it matters, I've been in my MPH program full time, while working full time (and some weeks with lots of overtime). Both my undergrad and grad average is an A-. I'm married, no kids.

I don't see any labs listed, Orgo, chem, bio, and possibly physics will need to have a lab as well. Some schools might require. Cell Bio, Genetics, Biochemistry, and Physiology...

Probably no work when you are taking those classes and MCAT, you might need to only focus on the MCAT as well.

You might want to also share your GPA's and stuff for better advice.

Sorry if that was unclear. I'm assuming I'd take the labs at the same time...

My undergrad GPA is 3.9, my MPH GPA to date is 3.9 (with PH sciences, if that matters, a 4.0)

so your plan is to avoid taking bio, orgo, and physics together by instead trying to do physics 1,2 + chem 2 in one summer?!

Idk about that, summer classes are very quick. I would rather deal with orgo + physics together in the fall than try and cram physics in the summer along with chem 2.

Thanks for the input!

I was trying only to have orgo and bio (or orgo and physics) together so that that last semester I wouldn't have MCAT prep and three classes.
