Possible to study for mcat while taking 18 credit hours?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Meehai. Did you study for the test while taking 18 credits?

what if half the courses you are taking are on the MCAT? 9 credits of psychology/sociology/physics

hmm now that is interesting psych an sociology at my school are fairly easy classes. physics will be tough though. Even with two potentially easy classes, you still need time in order to do well on the exam! So I would not advise you to do this either.

I was signed up for 19 hours and a May MCAT, and I rescheduled for June. Best decision I've ever made. I still felt a little behind, but I was able to get prepared and do well. I don't want to even think about what it would have been like a month sooner. You need good grades and a good MCAT score to get into med school, don't sacrifice one for a seriously negatively affected other.

It depends on what you are capable of and what other activities you have going on over the semester. I was taking 15 credits and doing research, and I couldn't put in the consistent study hours that you need to get a good score. I waited until the summer to take it, and even though I'm a little behind now, I at least didn't have to sacrifice a high score or my grades.

It's not undoable. There is a current med student that took 28 credits every semester for 4 years, managed a 4.0, and got a 43 on the MCAT. And this is in addition to other hardships in their life, most notably being a single-parent at the age of 15.

Can everybody do that? Hell no. Do you consider yourself someone who can do that?

I wouldn't consider it unless you typically take 20+ credit hours a semester and consider that easy.

Think of your MCAT studying as about two courses worth of material at the very least and adjust your course load appropriately.

Not advisable. MCAT is the hardest part of an application to build for most people. Dont mess it up.

Few SDNers here prepared for the MCAT while taking 20 credits worth of physics and engineering courses. They all scored very high (39+) and got a 4.0 that semester, but admitted it was the most painful and horrifying thing they have experienced in their lives. Make that what you will

Taking 18 credits next semester/studying for mcat. Is it possible?

Unless you have the hands and the brain of a demi god

Possible? Yes. Wise? No.

May I ask why you are considering this?

And the people who have done that are pretty much geniuses. 99 percent of us do not fall into that category.

Depends on your work ethic. Many people tend to take a light semester and study for it. I won't advise it.
