I have almost finished my informal postbac program. I have a 3.9 in the last 40 hours, but I have about a 3.2 overall from low grades when I graduated in 1990. I took the MCAT on 9-11 but don't have a very good feeling about it. Still crossing my fingers for a decent score. I still have not put any applications in, but plan to this week. I don't have very high expectations for success this year because I'm uncertain about the MCAT and it's so late in the cycle.

My question is what should I do for the next year to improve my application if I don't get any interest this year? Should I just take some more science classes? I plan on doing more shadowing and volunteering. Anyone been in this predicament?

Why not wait? Do something interesting this year to build up your app, or make money, or just live life. Then, apply really early when you know your mcat scores (retake in jan if necessary). If you submit now you will be late and that won't be good, especially if the mcat isn't up to snuff. You would be wasting money and making it that much harder when you apply next year. You only want to do this once.

take more post-bacc classes.... if you continue to do this well, you can even raise that GPA to a 3.3 for next year if things don't go your way this cycle
