I went to a top research university for undergrad and have a 3.3 cgpa and 3.16 sgpa. I got C+'s in a couple of science classes (Orgo 1, Physics 1 and physiology) I was taking because I started the pre-med track my sophomore year. I was excited about science and took too many hard science classes at the same time and as a result, was not able to manage some of them well. My second and third semester grades in those classes have improved to B and B+ levels. I have great research, volunteer experience. I am planning to do more clinical stuff as soon as I finish taking the MCATs.
I have not taken the MCAT yet, but am planning to in the future. Does anyone know whether for a MD program acceptance, which is better for me: doing a post-bac in which I repeat the classes I did poorly in or doing very well on the MCATs? Would post-bac be necessary in my situation? What scores on MCAT would put me in a competitive range?
