Hey everyone,

A few months ago I posted about being interested in medicine. I have taken the time to do some research and it is definitely something I want to do.

To recap, I am just starting a fully funded MPH program. I'm 22 now, and will graduate with my MPH in Health Management and Policy at age 24 (just graduated from a liberal arts private school with a 3.6 GPA in Sociology). I plan on jumping right into a 2 year post-bacc pre-med program.

My concern lies within the application process to top-tier post bacc programs.

I need some advice on gaining volunteer/clinical experience while earning my MPH. Where are some good places to go? And how should I connect with these places? Email, call, walk-in? Just want to know more about how this process works. Furthermore, how many hours should I accumulate? Is shadowing just as good as volunteering at a hospital? (I don't have any qualifications for clinical work).

My other question lies within the gap-year following the post-bacc program. I want to avoid this gap year if I can. I know there are linkage programs with certain post-bacc programs, but I don't know how reliable they are.

Any advice would be great. Thank you guys very much.
