post bacc programs with med school ties

Hi Guys,
I am trying to search for schools that have post bacc programs that are linked with some medical school. So that if I do the post bacc program and do well in the classes I can for sure get into a medical school, with decent MCAT scores. I know there are some schools that have a linkage program. So would someone be kind enough to name a few of these programs and how one might go about getting into one of these programs so that you can end up at med school.

I know Ohio State has a Postbacc that gets you a conditional acceptance to their Medical School. Which is a good deal since Ohio State only gives out interviews and acceptances to 32 MCAT and above. Hopefully that helps.

I forgot to mention that the adcom recommeds you to their Medpath program (aka Postbacc program). So you must be an applicant and then the adcom selects who is going to be eligible for the Medpath program. Then you have to do a Medpath application and then get invited for an interview.

Homer101, you might want to clarify. Are you looking for a postbac for those who have not yet completed the prereqs or a postbac for those who have already completed the prereqs? If I remember correctly, you fall into the latter category. In that respect, the special master's programs are your best bet. If you haven't completed the prereqs, programs like the one PelvicSplancnic mentioned are the way to go (i.e., career changer postbacs).

yes I have taken the basic pre-med classes, however I never took classes in hematology, immuno, micro as I was a Bio E major. So I was wondering if there is a post bacc program where I can take such courses and specifically a program which would give a conditional admission to their medical school or that has special linkage programs with their medical schools. So that way I know if I take the post bacc and do well, along with decent MCAT scores I can get a place in their med school as well. Then wouldnt have to spend tons of money on 20 apps and the moving costs and all. Hope this is a bit more clear.

Definitely consider Rosalind Franklin's MS in Applied Physiology. In past years, pretty much all of the students who pulled a B average or better were admitted for the following year.

Edit: But it's no walk in the park: 48 credits, majority of credits with MS-1s, one-year, ~$55k, not much margin for error, etc. It's a gamble.

Yeah, for the MS at Ros. Franklin, I think you're pretty much throwing in your chips all in one basket (getting into Ros. Frankling SOM). Although I'm sure there are some people that do get into other universities, it seems as if the majority of the successful students do just end up back at that school

So the only post bacc with a good chance of getting into their medical school is Ros Franklin! Yea it is like putting all my chips in one basket. What about the other post bacc programs? There are quite a few out there? Any suggestions..

UMDNJ's MS in Biomedical Sciences seems to be effective for New Jersey residents trying to get into UMDNJ schools. Eastern Virginia Medical School's MS in Biomedical Sciences is also worth considering. University of Pennsylvania's Special Science program has some sort of linkage with UMDNJ-RWJ, but I don't know the details. Boston University's MA in Medical Sciences and Georgetown's MS in Physiology and Biophysics (Special Masters Program) also take a good number of students into their medical schools. Rosalind Franklin just happens to be the best if you're trying to avoid the glide/lag year, you want to start med school ASAP, and you want to be pretty confident that you'll be accepted with a good performance. I know of no other postbac enrichment programs (except for special URM/disadvantaged programs like Drexel's DPMS and Creighton's postbac) that offer anything close to a guaranteed linkage. Georgetown, Boston U, and Drexel are probably your best bets if you're looking to improve your credentials and you want to apply to many medical schools. The Georgetown and Boston U programs supposedly boast MD acceptance rates of 85%, but some students argue this is a misleading statistic. Nevertheless, if you're looking for more options and don't want to take the Rosalind Franklin route, I think BU and G-town are the most established and effective of the enrichment postbacs.
