Post-Bacc Worries

So this is my first semester of post-bacc work. I currently hold a BA in political science with a "not so great" GPA. I am doing well in my Biology course, ok in my Chemistry course, but I am having extreme challenges with my Trig class. Since Trig is a pre-req for Physics; I don’t have an option but to do better. As it stands now; to pull of a "c" I need to get at least an 85% on the next exam and final. The professor I currently have uses the online program "mymathlab"; which I am sure is fine for some people, but since I haven’t had any math since 2002 I have found it to be extremely challenging. It’s strange because when I do the homework and review the notes I do just fine; I am averaging 98% on the homework/quiz portion. When I go to take the exams I seem lost and I have a hard time even understanding what answer the exam is looking for and in addition to that; since it is apart of the "mymathlab" online program; if I enter in a comma in the wrong place the whole answer is wrong. There is no room for partial credit..... blah

Any advice or support? I know pulling a "c" isn’t great, but hopefully my high bio and chem grades will pull me back up. Sorry about the rambling im just disappointed in myself.😱

Do everything you can NOT to get a C. Do anything--get extra help from classmates, get a tutor, get study notes, just get an A. It is a seriously competitive place out there, and C's are not going to cut it. Sorry.

I agree with Kate -postbacc is your chance to shine. You don't have a choice with a previous subpar GPA. You might not need a 4.0, but you'd better be dang close.

Get whatever help you need or you might do yourself serious harm...

We all know that the OP needs to get the highest grades possible, but his/her current situation looks grim. If s/he needs 85's on the next 2 tests just to pull a C, s/he must be in a pretty deep hole. Therefore, it will be pretty hard (if not impossible) to get a B, which everyone considers the lowest "respectable" grade. In fact, the OP may not even make the C, which would be a really bad outcome.

OP, maybe you'd be better off dropping the class and taking a W. While you may have to explain that later on your applications, it's still MUCH better than the GPA damage that would be inflicted by a C (which would be substantial). In the meantime, you need to get some tutoring in trig and get the hang of that "mymathlab" program, because you're going to have to go through this again. But, hopefully, next time you'll be better prepared.

Thank you student 1799; that was more of the response I was looking for. I am fully aware of the importance of making high grades in my post-bacc program, but I was really curious to find out if anyone else had challenges in trig/calc the way that I do. I can pull a B it will require 91% on the next exam and final; so I am starting sessions with a tutor today. Thanks for your support/advice as requested. 🙂
