Folks,
I am looking to get my Pharm D in US and apparently all odds are stacking up against me.
Situation!
BS in pharmacy (international)
H4 visa
No prerequisites taken
PCAT, GRE and TOEFL scored
Good GPA

I am lookin to find potential schools to apply for Pharm D, especially where they dont require prerequisites or may be apply to schools where they take me to pharm D P2 year.

Any info. on this issue will be highly appreciated and loads of thanks in advance. Look forward to hearing from you folks soon!!!!!!!!!

Try the University of Florida. They have a Pharm D program for people who are already pharmacists. They may be able to work something out. I beleive Nova Southeastern may also have a professional program. Best of luck :luck: !

Folks,
Looking for more info. to flow in. Please respond.

Thanks

I'll give you what I know, which is not too much. Most schools in CA don't accept students directly into a second year unless the school can document equivalent classes taken, which is difficult with an international degree. The only ones I know who have done this have been students from other US schools with programs which are extremely similar in sequence - and even with that - the students knew someone on the "inside". In other words - transfers are very, very difficult.

I don't know of any post BS PharmD programs in CA anymore. USC used to offer one, but that was a long time ago.

I will ask you though - why do you want a PharmD? Why not just become registered in the state you are in and then apply directly for a residency or fellowship to pursue your education further. A PharmD is not absolutely required for that, especially if you have obtained your education from a foreign school. Granted, you would have greater degree of competition, but working within the area you wanted & having strong letters of recommendation would carry significant weight, especially if you came with a significant amount of experience outside the country.

You can try University of Montana-Missoula - they may still have one.

Ohio State University has one, but you have to be a graduate of an ACPE accredited school of pharmacy & a resident of Ohio or its contiguous states.

Try searching for non-traditional PharmD or Extended learning PharmD.

Good luck!

SDN,
Thanks for the info., is there any email or phone where i can reach you. Couple of troubles, i graduated after 2003, so i have to pursue pharm D before i can get registered. I would certainly look into the schools you suggested, and see if something can be worked out and would even like to talk to you or send you some emails.
