Just wondering if anyone received an email from the chair of the selection committee after their Rush interview? I got one within an hour of the interview and was wondering if it was something everyone gets or not? Thanks

I got an email from one of the two faculty that interviewed me. There was a personal anecdote from my interview / application and he said they think I'd be a good fit there. I wouldn't say everyone gets one, but it probably isn't an exclusive club. For their 17 spots, I'd guess they might send such correspondence to applicants they can see ending up in their top 40 or so, as showing interest is more likely to promote a mutual interest from eager, influenceable, first-time applicants like us. Either way, if you are interested in Rush, it's a good sign you got some feedback as opposed to none at all.

When I was interviewing, I got an email from one program that said basically the same thing: great interview, we think you'd be a great fit, you have a great chance of matching with us, yadda yadda...only to see it was time-stamped before I had actually interviewed.

Don't put too much faith in it. Rank where you want to go, not who you think likes you. Programs will blow smoke up your ass, it's all part of the game.
