So after 2 interviews, I left one feeling very positive about it. The 2nd didn't go so well, despite me not being as nervous and more prepared.

My initial feeling minutes after the interview were that I bombed it. After talking to some friends and family about it, I realized I didn't do as bad as I had initially thought. Still, I didn't get any sort of feedback from the interviewers to make it seem like I did good or bad.

I'm assuming that leaving an interview not knowing if it went well or bad is a bad thing. Anyone have an experience where they weren't sure how well the interview went but got accepted?

From any interview experience, one learns from it in preparation for the next interview. I believe there is a website where applicants give feedback on their interviews from specific dental schools. Second, send a thank you note to each of your interviewers. Third, move on. There is nothing else to do for that school except to wait for them to decide. Worrying about how you did is not going to help.

I agree completely, and I have moved on. I know that I've done all I could and was as prepared as I could have been. I did my best and that's all that matters. I did read the interview feedback on this website and had done plenty of mock interviews using questions from the school's feedback. I'm focusing on my next interview which is in about a week and a half.

I was just wondering if it was common to leave an interview not knowing if it went good or bad.

it's way better than knowing that you f it up....

I found that my intuition was pretty right on last year. The interviews I felt like I nailed I got accepted and the ones I felt like I bombed or was unsure I was rejected/waitlisted. However, sometimes I feel it's hard to really judge since most people are their own worst critics.

I would be willing to bet that with your preparation, that you did better than you thought. Let us know what happens........

Thanks, I'm really hoping so. It was my #1 so maybe I'm just being overly critical of myself. I know for a fact that I put my foot in my mouth once and I got really nervous when one of the interviewers challenged me on some questions 🙁

I'll let you guys know on Dec 1 👍

haha. i felt the same way after my interview. i didn't know how to assess how i did. i felt like i twent well at the beginning, but went downhill when i got to the more challenging questions. in fact, at one point, i had to think for like 7-8 seconds (awkward pause) before i came up with an answer (which, btw, wasn't that great).

btw, what qualifies a good interview? mine was very conversational, went for like 30-40 minutes, and we discussed alot of things. in fact, my interviewer even mentioned they had reviewed my file pretty extensively and liked what they saw. however, i felt like i didn't answer the questions very effectively...i tend to ramble alot. haha.

either way, its over. all i can do is wait...i guess what i was trying to say is that i'm feeling exactly the same way you do about your interview (this school was 1 of my 2 top choices also). i just hope my letter dec. 1 begins "I am pleased to inform you that..."

You know, after a couple days of thought, I'm really starting to think I did very poorly in my interview.

My fear is that this will be the only interview I get this cycle...my stats make this concern fairly valid.

Is there anything someone can do to possibly post-interview to elevate their standing (aside from the thank you note)?

Sorry to hear that you're still not feeling great about it. I guess the best thing you can do now is learn from it and keep moving forward. Try to stay optimistic. I'm sure that if you got one interview there must be some things about your application schools like.
