So...
I just interviewed today, and I was curious about peoples take on this particular interivew. I had some old guy interview me, and I walk in and introduce myself. Anyway, he was quite slow to ask me questions and it almost made it to a point of being acqward. So, in his silence, I asked him if I could ask him a few questions... He seemed happy to oblige and I began asking him questions about the school and the profession. Before I knew it, he told me that we were almost out of time and he hadn't asked me anything about myself, so I proceeded to tell him all that I could in the last 2 or 3 minutes that we had.
How common is this in interview settings? Did I mess this one up?

By the way, there were 2 interviews and I think I quite well otherwise.

Thanks guys

San Antonio... They have 2 interviews, a student interview and a faculty interview with an essay at the end.

in two of my 3 interviews thus far, i've had to sort of (politely) interrupt the interviewer as he/she was rambling on after answering one of my questions. i think you have to do that, afterall, what are they going to remember about you if all they do is talk the whole time, giving you no time to tell about YOU?
i think some interviewers do this on purpose, as a test of your skills at controlling the conversation. the trick is to politely direct the conversation back to your stellar qualifications, while not 'hogging the convo'.
