anyone? Just curious. Got one after I submitted my USMLE step 2 score, which was a little below average, but not terrible. Feeling kind of low today.

I don't get it the program rejected you after they offered you an interview?

yikes, yeah i would like to know more details. how far below your step 1 did you drop and was this just an interview offer or after an interview?

after the interview. I got a letter via mail saying I would not be ranked. I actually had improved from step 1 to step2 but was still just a little below the mean.

Wow! I'm sorry that really sucks! I hope it wasn't a top choice for you. You would figure if they invited you for an interview with a lower step 1 and then you get a better step 2 that would help. Do you mind PM me the programs name?

Dude...bad form on the part of the program! 😡 So sorry this happened to you after you spent the time and money going to interview there!

Sorry, I don't want to give out names. I know many residents/directors go on this forum and I am a little paranoid about posting sometimes. But before I went on the interview I asked God to lead me to the place that I am suppose to go. So I guess he has a bigger plan. I just wish it was not in the form of this rejection. I plan to practice interviewing with a friend this weekend before my next interview to make sure that my interviewing is solid and not the problem.

This sounds like Florida. Did I get it right?

If a program has already interviewed you and both parties have incurred the expense of the process, there seems to be no reason to send an unsolicited rejection note. In my opinion, the program should have just left you off of their rank list. The only way you would have ever known you were not ranked by them would be if you did not match and they did not fill. Not a likely scenario. Them sending you that note seems to add unnecessary insult to injury. They lose style points for it. You gain style points by not dragging their name through the mud here. Unfortunately, style points are only worth 1/100th of a cent and as worthless as a "Schrute Buck."

Good luck!

The issue of style points aside, I personally would LOVE to know if a program is not going to rank me as soon as humanly possible to save me the trouble of considering that a logical possibility and deciding where to rank the program.

I also would not be hurt by being told I am towards the middle or bottom of the list, that only helps me out... does anyone know what percent of programs do this in any way?

I mean, what if you really suck in some way and half of your 10 places don't rank you... or put your towards the middle/bottom of the list (more likely)... you are basically screwed!

I agree. (Thank-you Miami for being upfront and honest with me...)
