Post Match Letters of Appointment/Paperwork

Anyone know how this works? I know programs can start sending out letter of appointment on the 15th (I think) but how long does paper work take? Or is all of it done right before starting and during orientation? I ask because I'd like to take a very short trip overseas to get some R and R but I'm not sure if I need to hold off on that till later.

I'm sure that heading overseas for a while post-Match won't create a problem--that's something coordinators are very used to dealing with.

There is a crapton of paperwork to do but it can generally be completed in a day or two. If you're going on a 2-3 week trip it won't be a big deal. If you're going to be gone for a couple of months you need to be sure they can get stuff to you.

Do you know if programs tend to sit on this stuff till April/May or do they try to get it done ASAP?

Just relax and contact your program after the match and tell them the dates you'll be out of the country.
