I just wrote my OAT yesterday. The OAT edition I happened to get was very difficult. There was a lot of questions I wasn't sure about, and others that I had absolutely NO idea, and still others didn't even have an answer that I worked out among the choices...EVERY section, I was racing through the questions because I was running out of time.
I expected a lot of kinematics in Physics, but didn't get much, and instead a lot of calculation-intensive questions... I expected a decent amount of reactions for Orgo, but I got almost none, and instead got some questions about concepts I've never heard about... I expected lots of plug and solve type of questions for QR, consistent with the Kaplan tests as well as the official sample questions, but got mostly complicated word problems, and some calculation-HEAVY problems... For RC, I was used to one hard/technical passage, and two relatively easy passages, but my edition had all technical passages...I can keep going, but suffice it to say, this test was NOT what I was expecting and was prepared for.
But the point I want to make is that you should try not to panic. I was devastated at how difficult this edition was, but was pleasantly surprised when I saw the standard scores.. If you do happen to get an OAT edition that is obviously harder than a typical one, don't lose your cool. They'll allow you to make more mistakes than someone else writing a typical OAT edition.. It is STANDARDIZED after all. There is NO way I got the marks that I did, without being marked on a more favourable standard score conversion..
I almost had a mental breakdown b/c I got wtf questions section after section... Thought I'd throw my experience out there, so some of you people who happen to get a very difficult OAT edition can keep composure and be a little more assured during what was a very nerve-wrecking experience for me @_@.
