Haven't see that much talk about post-residency career advice (other than fellowship stuff).

Anyways, heading towards my last year in residency and just started looking into academic jobs. Was wondering if anyone is aware of what kind of number I should be shooting for (like 200k?) for academic jobs along either the east or west coasts?

Also do academic jobs provide you with any signing bonuses, relocation bonuses, and other perks like paying for your boards, licensing etc??? If so, how much do they typically give you?

Thanks!😀

One of my co-residents accepted a job at an academic center on the East coast a couple of months ago. Salary numbers can range but it seems the average is around what you listed (my co-resident did a little better than average). He said the offer came with a slight signing bonus (not really comparable to private practice), no relocation bonus, did not pay for boards, paid and for and heavily assisted in his licensure (which might be worth more than a signing bonus according to some of the horror stories I've heard)
