Okay, I've got to get this off my chest. So I took the exam yesterday and was feeling pretty good. I had been doing pretty well on CBSSA/qbank. (610 on form 3 two weeks out and ~78%) I looked through first-aid and didn't see many questions I got wrong, but then . . . today, I started remembering numerous obscure molecular, pharm, bug treatment questions that I had guessed on. So I started looking them up, and . . . wrong, wrong, wrong, (maybe right) wrong, wrong. You can maybe add two or three more wrongs in there. Is this a recall bias problem, post-test depression, or should I start lowering my expectations? Anyone else out there have this experience and have it turn out well? Cheers.

My understanding is that most people who take the boards do what you do and then start thinking they've done horribly. Upperclass medical students tell them that's how everyone feels after the boards, but these medical students don't heed their words and continue to worry.

And when they later find out they've done fine, and see their lower class compatriots start stressing, they smile and say that everyone feels badly right after taking the boards. And the lower class medical students don't heed their words and continue to worry.

Hmmm...i think I've stumbled on a pattern...

Don't worry about it so much. I'm sure that there are also some questions that you smashed that you're forgetting about which'll probably up your score. Forget about focusing on the negatives and definitely stop looking up answers. 🙂

Wardens... I totally feel you. It will be three weeks since Step 1 this friday and I find myself constantly stressing about the exam. I have managed to get my mind off of it when I am busy or having fun but during ym down time, I find that I keep second guessing myself. I kinda feel like everything is good med school wise, and the only thing that can happen is bad. Basically, if I do well, nothing changes but if I dont, then I may have to rethink my career path or at least consider the possibility of matching somewhere that may not be "ideal" either geographically or otherwise.

I guess I'm just venting my anxiety right now but as my friends who have already taken the exam as well as upper classmen and residents have told me, it's out of my hands now and everyone feels that anxiety while waiting for their scores. If you wre in NC, we could chat it up over a beer... Good luck and try to relax some...

610. man.
i still have a few months to study, but even using first aid, i only got 500.
You mustve memorized a ton of ****

Yeah, you know I'm sure it went fine. Ever since I stopped checking answers, things have been looking up. Sweet ignorance. 😉 I'm going on vacatation to take my mind off things, but I'll post more about the whole experience when I get back. Thanks for the support, folk. Jack, you're firstaid experiment was really cool by the way. I'm sure everyone on here appreciates all that work. cheers. Now, off to enjoy nature. . .
