Just wondering if there has been any acceptances to UNT Master of Medical Sciences program with a GPA of 3.7sgpa and cgpa, but low mcat score.

I have heard of the acceptances of high mcat score and low gpa.

Anybody?

Hi, I'm currently in the program, and I can guarantee you that you have a great shot especially with your high GPA, especially if you're a TX resident. My guess is our class is about a 3.5+/ with a mean MCAT range of 26. plus, with the MCAT course they provide through TPR, you have the opportunity to retake the MCAT in August. Most people in my MCAT class are taking theirs in about 13 hours (lol) and the 16th/17th next week. I think the lowest MCAT I've heard was a 21 and the lowest GPA about a 3.15-3.2.

I'm extremely interested in this program if I don't get in this year. How does the class size look? I've heard its 200...that's a slight turn off.

I saw someone get in w/ a 22

Yeah I was a bit irked by the massive amounts of students they let in, but so far they really want you to get accepted somewhere. So far I really enjoy going to class. Everyone's great and supportive. Right now it's about 190-195 after a few dropped out from the 2nd biostats test. But don't be distracted. Many are applying just instate and many are applying to AMCAS/AACOMAS, but not as much. Your chances look great out of state too. The LECOM-B admissions director spoke to our class earlier this summer, along with TX A&M.

I'm going to apply if I get no luck this cycle. I really want to stay in TX, but there are plenty of schools I'm looking at out of state.

Just have realistic goals with this program. I know so many that have dominated this program and got 30+ on their mcat and still only got an interview and or only got an acceptance to tcom.

Did they just apply to Texas schools? MD only out of state?

Yes and no for the 31 example but I have heard and know of ppl in every situation. just know that while the program is great and prepares u well there are still many ppl who don't get the result they want or expect.

That's one thing that's concerning, whether doing great would even make me competitive enough since my cgpa and sgpa will be around 3.4

You have a shot at some Texas schools such as San An, A&M, TT, Foster, and TCOM. One thing about this program is those who finish at and go to TCOM on average perform just as well or better than the non MS students there. A TCOM graduate who did this program also stated how this program came up a lot when he was interviewing for residencies. It was looked favorably upon according to that student and the student's friends.

Do you guys/girls apply to med schools at the beginning of starting the program with any luck, or is it best to wait and finish the program?

I'm interested in applying if I don't get accepted anywhere, but don't know how I feel about taking another year off
