Hi guys,

I just graduated with biochem degree. my overall gpa was 3.4 and my science gpa was 3.29. I was wondering if it would be benfecial to do a postbac program or just taking grad school courses by themselves just to tell admissions that i can still do school? at the same time i plan do research..

thanks

im in the same situation you are. if you chose the grad class route, would you just take the courses but let them know you dont intend to finish the program and do a thesis? also if this is the way yo can do it, do you still need to tate the GRES?

i am in a similar situation (mcat 30, gpa 3.4). i'd like to take more classes to improve my gpa. do you know of any formal post-bacc programs that have a variety of advanced science classes rather than the required pre-med classes (that i've already taken).

Thank you

I've heard from numerous people that if you can't/ don't finish your masters before you would start med school that it's HIGHLY frowned upon.
I'm in an identical situation... just finished BS in Bio, 3.4 cum, 3.3 bcpm. i do research also, and am trying to figure out if i should take postbacs to raise my gpa, or start a biomedical masters. I think at some schools (like mine) they let you start a grad program with the intention of taking the GRE by the end of the semester.

I'd agree that adcoms often look unfavorably on grad students who don't earn their master's before matriculation. If you want to become a doctor sooner, do the post-bac and some research on the side, boost your science GPA and tackle the MCAT again. Good Luck.
