From what i have read on the forums so far, med schools don't really take into account graduate school GPA so even if I apply again, they'll only look at my undergraduate GPA. In that case, no matter what i do to try and get into med school from now on, I am always going to be hindered by my undergraduate GPA is that correct? If that is true, is it even worth going to a graduate school? Would it be more worth it to take a post baccalaureate program instead?

Consensus is that only the "true" SMPs set themselves apart from the normal grad programs, but that's a sort of "back to the wall" sort of desperate scenario. Check out the stickies in the post-bac forum. The reason these programs stand out is because you take some of the same courses, exams and are graded against actual medical students. Do well and adcoms may, MAY be impressed enough to give you a chance/interview.

But yes, you will ALWAYS be hindered by your undergrad GPA for MD schools except for maybe Texas. That's just life.

There are a few schools that have policies official and unofficial of post-bac. replaces previous UG work. There was a thread here some time ago about that.

Are we talking 2.5, 3.0, or 3.4 hindered here?

Essentially, yes.

If you got through your UG with all the required pre-reqs and a 2.7 GPA with mostly C's in the sciences, doing a masters program and getting a 4.0 with honors will do you no good. You are limited by your poor work in UG pre-reqs.

just sprinkle some glitter on your application...it will make the numbers look higher
