Hello, I am looking to apply to Tulane's microbiology and immunology SMP. I have a 3.01 undergraduate gpa and a 296 gre. The requirements are at least a 3.0 gpa and a 300 gre. I've spoken with the lady that is over the program and she informed me that they do occassionally accept people who have a lower gre score, but as long as they can make up for it in another aspect of their application. Obviously my gpa doesn't make up for it, but I'm pretty sure that I can get some good letters of recommendation. I've told her my situation and she told me that I should go ahead and apply. What do you guys think? Should I retake the gre and then apply or should I just go ahead and apply without retaking the gre? Has anyone else had this issue? What did you do? Please give details.

Thanks!

You already have advice from a far more relevant source than SDN: you were told to go ahead and apply.
