An abstract for which I am listed as second author was presented at a regional conference poster session in early November, though I wasn't able to be there for it. The same abstract was just accepted today for a national conference. Is this material worthy of an update? This is my only research productivity to this point. I am sitting at 5 interviews, 3 WL's, no acceptances so I am getting antsy. Would an update of this sort help to maybe land another interview or two?

Did you already communicate the November presentation?
If not, then yes, as long as you integrate it with your future plans and your fit for that school.
Are the WL post-interview, or pre-interview hold?
If the latter, I would only send it to the places you've interviewed.
If you already told them about the Nov. poster, the same abstract accepted elsewhere doesn't seem substantial enough.

Congratulations. For schools that accept such letters, I suggest including it as part of an overall update letter about pertinent activities, including an overview of fall-term grades, if available.
