Hi, I was invited to an interview on Jan 12th, I'm really looking forward to it because it is my 2nd choice school, but I recently found out my sister moved her wedding date from the 13th to the 12th. Its a civil wedding and she says its ok if I miss it because she will get married again in a church ceremony later on. I feel horrible though if I miss it, but then again I don't want to postpone my UOP interview because they are on rolling admissions. :scared:

Would postponing my UOP interview have a big effect on admission do you think?

I feel horrible if I miss my sister's wedding but then again I'll feel possible regret if I postpone my UOP interview and don't get in later on.. I'll have those "what ifs"... I feel like i'm in a lose lose situation.

🙁

Yes, very much so. More seats available, better your chances. Later the interview date = less seats = worse chances.

Good luck either way.

depends.. do you know when is the next interview date, whether its too far off from the one u are going to.. i think that if you have some very good stats, then your chances have not really diminished. but if you feel that your stats are avg like most people, then i would say that earlier is better. but depends on you.. i think its best if you talk to ur parents and ur sister, so that way whatever decision you make, its with the support of ur family rather than from a bunch of strangers (who will mostly give u a point blank straight answer without thinking of the other consequences)

the next interview date after the 12th is the 19th which is probably full already. the 12th interview session is the 4th session out of 11 so if u attend an interview any later, your chances will greatly diminish. I wouldn't recommend postponing it. your lucky to get an interview b/c i know a lot of my friends are placed on hold b/c their grades aren't good enough.

Is the wedding in the evening or afternoon. the uop interview starts at 1 and may go until 4-5ish. You might be able to make both.

No.. sadly the wedding in the afternoon, and its in Los Angeles so there's no way I could make it. Ah well. Thanks for the opinions everyone.

Ryan.....before you lose absolutely all hope....be sure to squeeze every possibility out.

I notice you are in Davis....like Davis, CA? The reason I ask is because - decades (ok, ok - a lifetime ago for most of you!!!😳 ) my older sister graduated from UC Davis on the same day I graduated from high school in the Los Angeles area.

Can you imagine the dilemma???? Not so much for she & I....altho we had & have a good relationship...we were sisters & young - we both knew we, individually, we wre THE MOST IMPORTANT PERSON IN THE FAMILY. However, our parents were presented with that difficulty of both of them wanting to see both of us. Well....they made it work - we were all at Toomey Field at 8AM & stayed for all the Letters & Science graduates, flew to LAX & I was at my high school by 4PM in Long Beach with all my family in attendance. It must have cost my parents a fortune when I think back, but they made it work.

What time is your UOP interview??? Is it in the morning? How comfortable are you with sharing your situation with the individual scheduling interview times? What time is the ceremony in the afternoon? It could be expensive, but doable to do both. I admit, I've not followed the UOP interview threads & should take the advice I always give - do a search to find out😛 . But...I know you can get a flight from Modesto to LAX. I'm not sure about Stockton.

What are the details of her ceremony? Who is going to be there - parents, sibs of both sides, friends? In other words...how big will this be? Will there be a party after? How comfortable are you & she with giving what you can to her that day....ie late to the ceremony & be at the party?

This is a lesson in the life of a pharmacist - there are always choices to make & some not pleasant....but exhaust every possibility first.

Good Luck!

commenting on what the last posted said....the uop interview has three parts: interview, tour, and writing sample. Perhaps you can ask them to have your tour last, so you can leave early if you would like....
