Hi,

I'm just starting my DMD and I'm a little worried about postural troubles I might develop in the futur.

I have a small kyphosis and some protraction of my shoulder right now... and I guess working with the back bent can only improves those small quirks.

So have you had any back problems while practicing and do you have any recommendation to prevent such problems?

I am almost done with my residency program and last week I started to have some lower back pain. It's the first lower back pain I have ever had either before or after starting my dental career.

My advice is to get good with the mirror. It's easy to be lazy, tell the patient to put the chin the ceiling and bend over to visualize the maxilla, but the mirror will save your back/neck in the long run.
