Hey Guys,
I'm a tight-budgeted 2nd year, gearing up for the big one, or should I say, "ones." I go to a new school and have no upperclassmen to give me advice.
Anyway, I have VERY little to spend and our school is trying to get us to go for the KAPLAN COMLEX INTENSEPREP COURSE.
This course includes COMLEX qbank PLUS (which means you get both the USMLE and COMLEX qbanks)...Along with lectures I wasn't planning on attending, and the COMLEX qBOOK...All for $400.
I have read OLD posts about COMLEX qBANK not being worth it...Can anyone PLEASE PLEASE shed some light on this? I already have FA, RR, will get USMLE World...But need to know if the Kaplan qbanks (USMLE AND COMLEX) are necessary evils?
Also, is the COMLEX qBOOK more-or-less the same as the USMLE qBOOK with some OMM tossed in?
I was thinking my alternative plan is to shell out $170 on the Kaplan USMLE ONLY qBANK for 3 months and just do the 200 COMSAE questions + USMLE World+ maybe the USMLE qBOOK...
Thoughts? Anyone vote for my alternative plan? I read Taus' prep schedule and he opted out of any and all Kaplan qbanks and others have cited "nit-pickiness" and "frustration" as reasons to avoid it...But still others say it's good test taking practice. No one seems to say much about the new Kaplan qbank PLUS series. One classmate of mine said Kaplan pays people to take tests and remember questions so they should be representative, but I'm not so sure...HEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEELLLLLLLLLLLLLLPPPPPP...
