Hello,

I was wondering if the practice tests required a fast internet connection? Is it possible to download the test onto the computer, so I don't have to move to a noisy library to take the test?

Thank you.

I don't believe NBMEs need a particularly fast internet connection. To my knowledge you cannot download the test.

There can be a bit of loading time between questions if internet is slow, esp. if you flip back and forth, but it's not a big deal

If you pay the $50 for the basic bronze NBME form, the questions load slow. If you spend the $60 for the silver NBME form, the questions load a little quicker. If you spend $70 for the gold NBME forms the questions load at lightning speed (and they may just provide you with answer explanations). Just kidding...although I wouldn't be surprised if NBME does something like this in the future to fatten their pockets given how ridiculously expensive this whole testing process already is.

Pretty sure no one *allows* you to download tests (I'm sure there's some way around it). UWorld doesn't even let you copy and paste when you're working in another program if you have it open.

E.g. Copyright (c) UWorld, Please do not save, print, cut, copy or paste anything while a test is active.

The price per exam is insane, and there's also really no justification why getting told which ones you got wrong (without even a correct answer or explanation) should cost an extra $10. I think the proprietary grading curve is the only reason why they don't just get pirated

Pay the extra $15/month and upgrade your internet

I can recommend you a cheap internet. I work in an office and I just need a cheap and fast Internet. I have tried many different providers. And in the end, I was advised to use Best Broadband Deals - Compare Broadband | usave.co.uk. I used it for two months and the benefit was very large. Now I only use it. And if you are looking for something cheaper that you should consider this option. There are different packages there. You can choose the one you like.

How do you think the ones before you did it back in the 90s? The internet was pretty ****ty back then.
