Hi Guys,

I have been having some struggles in Gross Anatomy. Though, I often have no trouble identifying structures on artistic drawings, such as netters, I tend to have trouble identifying them on actual cadavers. I was wondering if anyone knew of any sites that have practice practical exams, with pictures from real cadavers? I am familiar with the Umichigan site, but was hopeful there would be others. Any and all suggestions welcome!

Check to see if your school library provides access to NetAnatomy, it's a pretty good resource.

I know it's not a website but spending time with prosections and Rohen's in the lab has been SUPER helpful for me.

Color Atlas of Anatomy book. This has real pictures and you can buy it used online.

It's best to go with a friend and start identifying structures on other cadavers. Also, try to find cadavers that have been dissected well.

Buy a Rohen's and get intimate with it. Go to bed with it, wake up with it, skip class and have brunch with it.

Rohen's Atlas, downstate, stony brook, and U of M websites all have practicals. Also, I believe Acland has a practical section as well

Is really the problem the cadaveric picture?
In my case the difference was the learning method: reading a textbook (and see everything in context), versus being pimped on one structure (and not having the time to load the context into the working memory).
For such pimping on gross anatomy, I found very useful PracticeAnatomy.com I found those illustrations great!

The Acland videos are amazing and go into the amount of detail needed at the medical school level. You can find them on YouTube, buy a license to the videos, or buy the DVDs. However, keep in mind the bodies in the videos are fresh without preservatives so things will look different.
