Practicing/Associating in Virginia

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I hear Virginia is very saturated, specially in Northern Virginia. Does anyone know if there are certain parts of Virginia (between Richmond and northern Virginia) that are easier to find ideal associate positions or even do start-ups?

In general there is saturation in NOVA... you hear stories about start ups that failed in Ashburn because 12 dentists opened up recently, but the economy has changed a lot of things. Mostly there are fewer guys retiring than were planning. Its generally true that south of Woodbridge its more country practices... West of Leesburg towards Front Royal its also country and of course SW virginia is country dentists. I looked at many of those towns while in D school. NOVA is a great place to live but if you like the real south you can practice elsewhere in VA. Richmond is a decent small-medium sized city. Always look for the right opportunity and do your homework and potentially any place could be very good.
