Hey everyone,

I am in a hospital setting now. My supervisor discussed the possibility of my staying on for a 2nd year, in a paid part-time position (8 hours per week). If this were to work out, my supervisor told me I could participate in group supervision as I have been & continue to receive supervision from her.

I am concerned because, in spite of supervision and work functions that would certainly qualify for prac hours, I do not believe that I can count these towards total hours. I do not believe I can count paid hours towards total APPIC hours. Am I right?

Also, how do you all think this would look to APPIC sites when I apply in a few years?

Appreciate any feedback!

i searched but couldn't find the prior thread.

thanks! i will search some more

There should be a question covering this on the APPIC FAQ, though I believe the answer is.....no. The APPIC hours are only at the doctoral level, and only school-sanctioned.

I am paid for a minor research practicum I do (10 hrs/week or so), and because the practicum is also approved by our program as an official practicum, I can log the hours i spend doing SCIDs and neuropsych testing with the particpants on the APPIC.

That is the important part.

I did something similar with assessments I gave linked to some grant research. It wasn't a ton of hours, but it was helpful to beef up my assessment area.

I was feeling pretty sure I would turn the paid position down and just do the work as practicum to get APPIC countable hours/experiences(i would be a testing dummy with different neuropsych measures, which would nonetheless be helpful in regards to gaining experience with the measures) - but the prac site is recognized by my program, so perhaps it will work out! I will have to talk to my advisor and others to ensure this.........but thanks!!!
