Hello,

I am currently an optometrist practising in Canada. However, my future may lead me to be practising in the UK. Does anyone know the particulars that may be required to practise in the UK? Any exams that need to be written, etc. The validity of our qualifications? I'm not sure where to begin and am just trying to sort out my options.

Thank you in advance, any help would be appreciated.

You could look into it by a simple google search, or using the SDN search function. From what i have read on here, not many people would consider what you are.

In UK Optometry is a bachelors degree, where as it is a doctorate in Canada. Also there is some people on here i believe who posted a while back, who wanted to come from UK to US or even Canada to practice, but was told they would have to get their degree here.

Check this out: http://www.college-optometrists.org...reers.UK_Qualification.UK_Qualification_home/

This may not directly answer your question, but you can always read up on that site (or other sites) and inquire by email.
