do schools reject you prior to dec 1 after interviewing you?

So let's say I did poorly on pre dec interview, do schools wait until dec 1 to send out rejection letter? is it just acceptance letters that they wait til dec 1 to mail out??

I know with UF if you are interviewed pre-december and are rejected you will hear around Dec 1st (I think its through mail so it might take a few days) but not before. I am not sure how other schools are though.
