Pre-Dec vs post

Think of it this way:

If the school you're applying to has, say, 100 seats. On Dec. 1st, they give out 75 acceptances to all their pre-Dec interviewees. Suddenly, you have cut your chances by 75%, and the AdCom is going to be much more selective with who they pick to fill those last 25 seats, so your chances get even worse. Of course, if you're a 3.9/25AA kind of person, it likely won't matter, bust some food for thought.

That assumes that all 75 of those offers of admission are accepted, which never happens.

To the OP, yes, it gets harder after Dec 1, but not as hard as its made out to be by some people. Plenty of people get accepted after Dec 1. Doc Toothache has a thread on this I believe, so I'd go check that out.

No, absolutely. I didn't mean to imply that you have no shot after Dec. 1. Just that, on the most basic level, your chances decrease the longer you wait. It behooves you to apply as early as you can.

If I apply in September, would I most likely not get an interview until after December?

Unless your stats are really great, yes, I'd say that would be an accurate assumption.
