I notice their are a few questions similar but none answer my question which is.

I live in NC and want to know what the math pre reqs are for dental school. I always see sites and post saying different things (i know diff schools hav diff reqs) but for the majority of dental schools what are the math pre reqs

I am currently deciding what maths to take in the fall and I will have biology and possibly chemistry as well. I just dont want to take very difficult high level maths and risk my GPA if i dont have to.

Thanks in advance for All post

Not sure, so you will need to do some research. Research each school you are planning to apply to and see what math requirements they need. Like you stated, each school has their own requirements 🙂 For instance, I'm a TX resident who applied to all the TX schools. All the TX schools require Statistics from the math department.

Hope this helps! Good luck! 🙂

Math is not a common pre-req. Some schools suggest math (like calc or statistics) and there are a handful that require it. These are those that I know require it:

Penn - 1 semester — calculus is preferred
Stony Brook - 2 semesters (must include: Calculus I and II or Calculus I and Statistics)
Harvard - 2 semesters calculus
Boston - 2 semesters (at least 1 calculus course required; statistics will fulfill second semester requirement)
Yale - accepts only math majors

University of Alabama Birmingham (UAB) requires 2 semesters. Calculus is recommended. I would imagine these schools have their requirements on their web sites.

Thanks to everyone that posted

And im thinking of just taking college algebra and then possibly statistics OR precalculus algebra and precalulus trig idk which i should do i really want the route with the least risk since i dnt like math

I have a 3.75 GPA i simply want to improve it and have all reqs complete if anyone else has anythoughts or at least a math track they took that was not very difficult they would suggest for admision to dental school

I did brief calc. right out of high school. I'd die if I had to take anything over trig or something now. I'm not even sure that would count as a calc class if any of my schools even wanted calc.

Look at your major map and see what's required. I know our biology wants statistics and some other math class.

I think it's a decent idea to not get out of the blocks with bad grades in BIO 1 and CHM 1 and mess with your GPA. If you think a harder math will get in the way, I'd not take something hard either.
