Hi guys, had quick question. Applying to EM residency and I am underdog (stat well below average but no red flags). More than 8 pubs including two in nature and also went to two ivies for undergrad and grad (masters). Also exotic life of coming to the states as former refugee. Still, at residency level PDs want to make sure you fit in and can do the job-- which I can. But on paper it is hard to convince them. So I emailed a few programs and some said they will keep my app open and some even mentioned I am on waitlist. Should I email back and say thank you or should I just shut up and move on. Thanks!

You have 2 papers in nature? Scientists spend their lives working and never publish in nature...lol

I mean, if you already emailed them and they replied .. may as well say thanks. But I would not keep emailing them after that.

Oh, thanks. Yes, was not sure if I should just email them back saying thank you (seems like the idea of emailing residency office is controversial from what I read here on SDN).

Yeah it is hard but I was fortunate and lucky to work with a scientist who has published a gazillion paper. Research is hit or miss. But when you finally hit the jackpot, it is fun!
