Well, I have two weeks before my first interview at Western COMP. Been looking at some sites for more history and interesting tidbits on the DO. I was browsing the DO forums and came accross this link:

http://www.drsimmons.net/

I found it quite helpful and am contemplating purchasing a book. Hope it helps in everyone's quest and good luck!!

If you want history and whatnot, buy Norman Gevitz's book. Well worth it and more pertinent than Simmons' board review books.

Absoluely! I already went to the library to check it out. It's "The DOs" for those interested.

Know why you want to be a D.O., the difference between D.O. and M.D. (the correct answer is not D.O. = M.D. + OMM but a complete different approach to a patient's presentation looking into all the factors such as their work, marriage, excercise, etc. in addition to OMM) and the 3 or 4 principles of osteopathy which can be found online ( I still don't know them but I know some people were asked). I think the rest of the info is FYI in case you're interested. Good luck on your interviews!!

this may be a long shot but try calling Western within about a week of your interview and ask who your interviewers are..they may or may not tell you but it couldn't hurt to try 🙂 it may be helpful to know a little bit about them before going in...as a tip for others, TUCOM-CA will tell you who your interviewers are ahead of time 😉 ..if you ask
