So I'm currently a freshman at the University of Rochester. As a freshman i'm taking calc, bio, chemistry and my required writing course but i'm feeling the pressure now alot of people have told me it gets harder but I feel i'll end up doing better in my sophomore/junior year because at them moment i'm basically taking my pre-reqs for medical school. I can barely manage to get a B+ (my biology class is intense hard!) In high school I loved biology until I took the bio my professor currently teaches- which is all experimental and nothing like i've learned before. Also, not having taken AP Chem, I feel i'm lagging behind compared to those who have and also not to mention a good chunk of my school is "pre-med". I feel i'm so screwd and i'm not trying to rant about this although it does appear that i am, but any advice? I feel like i'll definitely end up with a <3.5 this year =(

its really not a big deal, anyone who says they get a 4.0 there first semester of college is probably lying or took easy courses. Honestly if you get lets say a 3.3 you have alot of time to boost that up to past a 3.5, just try to avoid C's and relax its your first semester in college.

Well, you are being a bit broad and in order to help you I think people will need more specifics.

For instance:

What are your study habits? (methods, materials, etc)
Do you do well on homework but not in tests?
How are others in the class doing?
Is it just bio, or chem as well, or all your classes?


Without some of that stuff all we can do is give you a shoulder to cry on, which most on here won't do nor is it helpful to you.

Hi, as a UR alumni I can feel your pain. Are you taking Bio with Olek? Do not worry about screwing up you GPA over one semester. You will have at least 7 more to bring it back up.
