I am a Neuroscience and Psychology major, who up until recently was only looking at PhD programs. Now I am seriously looking into PhD/MD programs. I was wondering how having or not having a pre-med concentration on one or both of my majors would look on a PhD/MD application?

Your major/concentration does not matter for admissions (but you should check with your premed advisor re committee letter, it could matter for that). Make sure you have the medical school bases covered (eg. shadowing).

You can PM to discuss more if you'd like, but I was in this exact situation. In my (n=1) experience, as long as you have the pre-med requirements, it's no problem. I took several upper-level neurobio courses as well, which I think pleased my committee.

Agree with the bolded. The term "pre-med" carries no weight at all. You do need to have your pre-reqs completed to be considered for medical school admission, so if they weren't part of your curriculum you need to get those courses in now. Aside from that, check out the sticky to see how competitive you are likely to be. You need to meet all MD-only admission requirements before applying (including at least some shadowing/volunteering). You also need substantial research experience and a good to excellent MCAT score to stand a chance at most programs.

For the record, I was also a neuroscience and psych double major...a decade ago. Sigh.
