Hi, I'm a prospective pre-med student, and I really want to plan out activities (research, summer programs) that I will do during my summers in college. Does anyone know of any good research opportunities or summer programs that is geared for those wanting to become future physicians? Anything would help. Thanks!

Well youre just starting school so take the first semester to settle in and get that coveted 4.0, after you get your feet wet you're going to need a few key things on your resume which include:
-CLINICAL Volunteering (At a hospital/doctors office)
-NON-clinical Volunteering (soup kitchens/retirement homes)
-Shadow Physicians (Med schools want to know you have some idea about what being a doctor is like for real, not just what youve seen on TV)
-Undergraduate Research
-Try and pursue some other interests and hobbies that will set you apart from the rest of the group! be unique and try to jump off the application! adcoms dont want the prototypical premed clone all the time

I intend on just shadowing a few different types of doctors to start, and then trying to determine a decent volunteering opportunity before the summer starts. It shouldn't be too hard to find things for yourself as well. I just finished my first semester in college.
