Hello SDN!

I hope everyone is having a great summer and for those of you applying to medical school for next year good luck! I was wondering if some of you could by any chance take a look at my personal statement, I have emailed an English professor to edit it but he is taking a little bit longer than anticipated and I was looking to submit my application in the next week hopefully :scared:.

Anyway a little about myself as an applicant: my GPA is a little low (3.3), MCAT score pending until the end of this month, and loads of work experience and clinical experience (Treasurer for a martial arts club, one year of undergrad research, work as an IT consultant on campus, volunteer in the Emergency Dept, and I am currently shadowing 3 docs). I know the odds are against me as far as GPA goes so I was just concerned on how I should address that in my PS 😕. I will attach my personal statement (which is a first draft btw) as well as another document with work/activities information to help all of you get to know me better. Any help will be greatly appreciated and I am open to any suggestions. Thanks everyone!

I haven't read anything yet, but do not be self-effacing. Do not throw a pity party for your GPA, just be confident in your essay, and if you have all this cool experience then you'll get in somewhere.

There's a list of volunteer readers that will read your essay. Protip: use the search function.

Hey, thanks for the reply! I addressed in 1-2 sentences but followed up with a positive statement so I don't think I dwell on it too much. I was just looking for some constructive criticism on my theme, grammar, if it flows, etc.

Oh ok, as you can probably tell I'm new to SDN...thanks! I'll submit it to that thread
