I often get confused on what would be applicable and appropriate to do for "clinical" and ECs for optometry admissions.

Like I feel sometimes it is difficult to find stuff very specific to eye-care besides basically shadowing.

For example, I volunteer at a hospital and an EMT, but I do not want to get questioned why I do not wanna do med...any suggestions on other ECs/clinical stuff to do to show that I am truly dedicated to optometry.

Thanks for any input.

my personal opinion is that while admissions love direct optometry experience, my interviewers have been most interested with my extracurriculars relatively unrelated to the field (volunteering organizations, tutoring orgs, photography club). Throw in an activity that they aren't expecting, be passionate about it, and you'll do great.

that's not to say that you should ignore shadowing and work experience entirely (those are VERY important as well) but don't feel like you have to only do opt related things.

Don't look for what's applicable and appropriate in clubs, do what you enjoy!
