i just got my schedule and i have courses like sociology and psychology english but i barely see any science or math? ... i only have biology 1 n bio lab 1.. is this normal? and considering i have to get this done in 2 years, what shuld my schedule be looking like ..im freaking out lol 😱

You didn't get to pick your schedule? To get the work done in just 2 years, I would take at least 2 math/science with 3 lib arts classes every semester. Make sure you talk with your advisor to make sure you're on the right track.

I would think about adding Chemistry to that schedule. Freshmen year, most students do Bio and Chem at the same time so you can progress to Orgo your second year.

👍 Not taking chem first year was my biggest scheduling blunder. I'd highly recommend it as well. Make sure you get math handled too. For courses like chem, bio, and math - you really need to get the basics done first year so you can satisfy the pre reqs for future classes and move on.

You should take general chem and principle biology during your first year, so that you can move on to organic chem and A&P during your second year. Keep in mind that general chem and principle biology are the prerequisites for all of your higher science courses including organic chem, A&P, biochem etc. Contact your advisor or pre-pharm advisor at your college, tell them your plan. They should be able to figure out a schedule that works for you 🙂 Do this soon before classes are filled.

Your advisor may be trying to get the standard classes out of the way for you before giving you the tough stuff. But I agree with the rest, talk to him/her before this semester starts so you can get it changed if u need to.

if this is your 1st year in college, i say do worry about having to squeeze in every bio/chem class possible. get use to college life/classes, you'll have plenty of time to take the other pre-req classes once you get the hang of things.
your grades will thank you.

Get Gen Chem I in there. You need that to finish in 2 years. The rest of the science you can get in there wherever. For instance:

Fall 2009
Gen Chem I (4 or 5 credits; depends on school)
Biology I (4 or 5)
Psychology or Sociology (3)
English (3)
14-16 credits to get you adjusted to college is a good start.

Spring 2010
Gen Chem II (4/5)
Bio II (4/5)
History (3)
Calculus I (4)

Fall 2010
O Chem I (5)
A & P I (or Anatomy, or whatever your school has; 4 or 5)
Psych or Sociology (3; whichever you didn't get the prior year)
Microbiology (4/5)

Spring 2011
O Chem II (5)
A & P II (if you need it; 4/5)
Physics (5)
Elective, or whatever else you need (3)

I may have left out some gen ed type classes that you need. Please don't use this as the only thing you base your schedule on. I just wanted to show you that you need to start Chem right away to finish Organic in time. If you take classes in the summer of 2010, I would do something like Physics and an elective. Don't take the major science classes (micro, O chem, A&P) in the summer because it can look like you're trying to get an easier crack at it.

One other thing: check with the website(s) of your top couple of pharmacy school choices. They may have a recommended schedule for you.
