I'm a junior in college right now, I'm planning on applying to Pharmacy school next year. I have a 2.7 GPA right now, but I have a lot of pharmacy experience. I currently work in a retail pharmacy and might be getting a job in a hospital pharmacy. Plus I volunteer weekly in a hospital pharmacy as well. Do you think my chances are still good on getting in even with an "average" GPA?

No way to tell until you have a PCAT score to show

unless your applying to Cali. If so with 2.7 GPA probably no

I'd advise you to take the PCATs and aim for high 80s-90s as your 2.7 gpa is not "average", but is considered the minimum in many cases. Check the PharmCas directory for more information on your potential schools.

Definitely take the PCAT and aim for a great score. But speaking as someone with a little bit of info from the inside...years of pharmacy work experience will trump a 4.0 GPA in 98% of cases. I apologize in advance to all of the overachievers out there but the work experience is vital to your career choice in the eyes of adcoms everywhere.

2.7 is not average 🙁 3.0-3.3 is average. Even though u have experience, try to get a 90% in the PCAT to balance things out

Is it practical for you to retake some of your classes over summer to improve your GPA?
