I have withdrew from a few classes, well before the deadline...

With this affect my chances of getting into pharmacy school?

If i get a D in a class, retake it, get an A.. (My adviser said the "A" will replace the "D" as the official grade, but they will both average out in my GPA) will this affect my chances of pharmacy school?

What overall gpa should i be going for and what "required course gpa" should i be shooting for..?

Also, what should i be doing outside of school to increase my chances of getting accepted.. ????

I literally have no idea what to do...should i become a pharmacy tech (Im male)? should i be volunteering? If so how?

Thanks in advance

There is no option on PharmCAS for you to annotate the date you withdrew from a course. If your withdrawal puts you below the standard full time units then schools will take that into consideration. Most schools look down on excessive withdrawals.

The below only applies to PharmCAS schools:
The first thing (and sometimes only thing) all pharmacy schools look at is your PharmCAS GPA. It will be the average of all of your grades you've ever earned in college. Schools will require your PharmCAS GPA to be above a threshold before they review your application. Some schools I contacted have said that they calculate a GPA for pre-requisite coursework and will take the higher grade from retakes, but in the end they just focused on my PharmCAS GPA anyway (which makes sense. Why do extra work right?). Your best bet is to research a school and contact them regarding this policy as every school is different.

You should always shoot for a 4.0. Although a 3.3GPA with lots of extracurriculars listed on your application can work as well. Anything lower than that and the odds are against you.

Anything pharmacy related. Volunteer experience. Extracurricular community service. School clubs or organizations. Undergraduate research. The more of this you have the better you look.

Apply to CVS or Walgreens and work as a pharmacy service associate. No technician license required since all you do is ring patients out and maybe type a few prescriptions here and there after you've been working for some time. It's a relatively stress free way of gaining pharmacy experience (and technician experience). Earning a technician license isn't exactly hard, but jumping into work as a pharm tech without any prior experience is like taking calculus before algebra 2.

I got a D in english 101... I didnt exactly earn the D. I got a D because of a dumb mistake which caused me to get a 0 on my last paper.. long story.

But im retaking it and currently on track for an A

Did it involve academic dishonesty?

Well it helps it wasn't one of your science classes, but the D will still show up on your transpcript. Lets say you get an A next time around and the GPA averages to lets say a 2.0 for the course. The admissions people for pharmacy school you apply will still see that D, and it will hurt you.

How much it will hurt you I really don't know. It depends on the rest of your application and how competitve the pharmacy school is.

Try your best to do as well as possible to keep up ur GPA, because I know people with 4.0 GPA's after 2 years of undergrad that didn't even recieve interviews for Pitt Pharm.

Academic dishonesty, perceived and or imagined or real = you're screwed.

It wasn't academic dishonesty.

We were supposed to turn in a hard copy AND electronic copy

I did not know we were to turn in an electronic copy.

I and 15 others who made this mistake got 0's

If it was academic dishonest I would no longer be in school now would I?

Different schools have different policies.

Yikes. You guys have it rough. In such cases, my professors/TAs will make an exception and allow students to turn it in with few points deducted.
