So by the time I apply in May 2010, I will have done every prereq besides the physics + lab

I'm trying to take that senior year because I suck at physics pure and simple

Anyway, these biology labs are killer (two 4hr sessions per week plus 3 50 mins lectures each week)

Anyway, that's my upcoming 'problem', if you will.

Now, I'm wondering that when I appy in May 2010, they don't factor in THAT spring's GPA or the following senior year's GPA so you think it'd be cool if I just took like 4-5 classes senior year...since getting C's wouldn't factor at all into their decision?

They will want to see your updated transcript. So you apply in may... aadsas will take their sweet ass time on sending your application to the dental school. By the time the dental school sees your application, you probably just finished your spring quarter... i am sure the dental school will ask for your updated transcript for that quarter...

and you can take 4 to 5 classes your last year or whatever.. but its not wise to get Cs because the dental school will once again want your most updated transcript... and you have other applicants sending in their wonderful transcript full of A's, you dont want to send in yours with C's.

True but the decisions are made in December...FALL quarter...so we can all slack off Winter and Spring Quarter...

are you guys SURE that AADSAS factors in junior year SPRING classes?!?

AADSAS will verify your recent transcript that you send them.. so if your transcript doesnt have the spring grades in then it wont factor it in... HOWEVER... you still have to put down the classes youre taking that spring quarter.. as well as any other planned classes for your senior year..

Now as of slacking off:

The decisions DO NOT have to be made in december... who said that you're going to def get an interview before december? maybe you will and maybe you wont

Many people interview after december... for example.. if you interview in april...they would like to know how ur grades are during winter quarter..

Lets say you and another applicant are interviewed sometime after december like in april for the last seat... you decided to slack off during your winter quarter while the other applicant got good grades.. the other applicant wants to look good and sends them the most recent transcript... what are you going to do? you slackked off... your grades went down hill... who do you think they will choose?

What if you're placed on a waitlist? you would want the school to choose you over the others on that list... you would have to keep updating them with your new grades until you get in...

Now I am just setting up examples of what could happen.. you dont have believe that this will happen... but i am just trying to be practical and letting you know to be prepared for anything...

hope this helps atleast a little for when you make your decision of slacking off or not...

good luck...

Yeah you would need to be damn cocky to slack off spring semester Junior year let alone even fall Senior year.

Also, once you're in, I know for UDM you must "maintain or improve your gradepoint" throughout the rest of your time in college, otherwise there is the possibility of losing your spot.

You would be silly to think getting C's for the rest of your college career will not affect your chances.

The D-schools will want to see your Junior Spring grades for sure. The transcript that you send to AADSAS on June 1 will surely have those grades, and you have to report all completed coursework. You have no guarantees of getting in during the Fall semester, so it is likely that they will want an update of Fall grades too. Spring of your Senior year might not matter, as long as you get in your first try.

At what point during the summer do we send the junior year spring grades? Is that actually computed in the AADSAS GPA?

you cannot request your transcript before June 1st because you need the transcript matching form printed from AADSAS and it will have every grade...esp junior year spring...sorry

So to sound repetitive, the AADSAS GPA COUNTS spring grades??

Yes, any courses that appear on your university transcript before June 1 will be included in your AADSAS application and GPA calculation.

Summer grades, and Senior Fall grades can be reported in the Academic Update period, which runs from November to February, but this is optional. If you get in December 1, then don't worry about sending updates; but if you don't get in December 1, you'll want to submit your Summer and Senior Fall updated grades if they strengthen your application.

Thank you ^ for giving me a clear, concise, and direct answer....It took 8 posts but I finally got my answer.

I'm actually happy that they count Junior year spring grades cause that gives me more chance to raise my GPA 🙂

As for the Academic update period, I'll try to do well in order to gain a better chance at admissions
