I am 27 and work as a medical lab professional full time at an academic medical center/hospital that offers generous tuition reimbursement, even for non-degree studies. I already have BS and MS degrees and completed all pre-requisites regularly (in class) as an undergrad. The only pre-req I am retaking (at a community college) is a year of physics.
I found some interesting courses offered online through SUNY schools (http://sln.suny.edu) such as immunology, pathophysiology, etc. I have plans to apply for Fall 2015 matriculation to medical school (various reasons for this). Until then, I would like to complete some online courses with my employer's tuition benefits.
What have been some of your experiences with extra science (or non science, i might take some psychology courses for fun) classes? They raise GPAs but do adcoms give a "oh they raised the GPA but they're just online classes? For certain reasons I might only apply to DO programs or at least focus on them. Feel free to share your experiences with various DO and MD programs.
The transcripts will not state "online" but I live/work far from any of the SUNY schools so it will be obvious I took it online....and the primary/secondary application might even ask if a class was online.
Thanks
