While I did look pre requisites for med school, many indicated 1 yr Biology with Lab. Does it indicate two semesters with one biology course for each semester along with Lab?

I did take Cell and Molecular Bio and A and P 1 along with both Labs in one semester. Does it mean I met the requirement or should I need to take additional biology for another semester?

Thank you,
Abhilash

For the biology requirement, students need to complete Biology 1/2 with labs. That’s what it means by 1 year of Biology. The other science courses you took still apply to your sGPA, which is good.

Thank you. So, I should take another introductory biology 2 course with Lab !!. In fact I find MCAT more focused on A and P 1 , A and P 2 and Cell and Molecular biology.

Some schools specifically require Bio 1/2. Some allow other bio courses to substitute. Some allow other bio courses to substitute only if you took the classes dual enrollment in high school, or otherwise passed out of them. Each school is different. The safest bet is to take Bio 1/2 though. Typically Cell bio requires taking bio1/2, so not sure what path you took and whether anything I said is useful.

Schools that operate on a semester schedule have 2 semesters per academic year, thus 2 semesters = 1 year.
Schools that operate on a trimester or quarter schedule generally have 3 trimesters or quarters per academic year and 3 courses are usually required to equal 1 year of study.
