Hi everyone!

So prior to this semester I had been in the Military. I took online classes for three years when I was in. At one point I had failed a class do due being stuck with an area with no internet for a few weeks. The professor of the class didn't believe me or just didn't want to work with me, so I failed. Left with at 3.1 GPA at the school. Anyhow I transferred to a brick and mortar school this semester. Should be finishing this semester with a 3.8 or so. Will that previous low GPA effect me negatively? I have 2.5 years left of undergrad to work on my current GPA also.

Thanks everyone!

You certainly didn't get a 3.1 GPA from failing one class. Either way, if you have 3 years of a 3.1 and about 3 years of ~3.8+, your overall GPA will be totally fine, especially given the upward trend. Plus, you can do grade replacement for the classes you didn't do well in during your first 3 years if you apply DO. Good luck, and thank you for your service!

Well I had not taken that many credits really, but other then that F I had Bs and As (they used a straight A,B,C,ect grading scale)

They'll combine all of your classes and come up with an average-GPA. I'm sure you will be fine if you keep working hard. Your military service(thank you) will help out a lot. Work on your other ECs and do well on the MCAT down the road and you will be set to apply.
