Any consultants out there seeing more and more of this over the past couple years? Are you noticing less delirium in patients that this gets used on instead of propofol and other deliriogenic drugs typically seen in the ICU? Its a neat alpha 1 agonist that supposedly does not cause nearly as much delirium but I have not seen enough cases to say it has swayed me one way or the other. Just curious if anyone had more experience

I am aware of its use in facilitating extubation from mechanical ventilation, but have not personally seen the results.

In what type of cases have you seen it used?
There are several reports on its adjuvant use in DT's.

Also, I wonder if it has any benefits over guanfacine (save for IV availability)?

Its just like a 100 times more potent at the alpha 2 receptor compared to guain or clonidine but same mechanism.

Lots have been to intubate or remove intubation. Post-op is common as many people are getting it in surgery either alone (less common) or adjunct
