Well guys this thread is designed to point bad groups, management companies that other anesthesiologists and esp new grads should be made aware of. If everybody contributes, we will be able to point these predators out and who knows perhaps save some of our colleagues from some agony, but ultimatly hopefully clean up our field. it's unfortunate that such a wonderful science, and specialty has so many poor human beings in it. ( you can tell alot about a field by how colleagues treat each other), Anyways predatory could mean anything, eg. lowballing salary, making you risk your license(constant 4 on 1 supervision, understaffing a place making it more likely you' ll make a mistake), using new grads( making them work an unspecified number of years and never making them partners, in my opinion there should be no real diff between a solid new grad and a senior partner... i mean they do the same job take the same risk, and probably the new grad will be working harder so how groups justify paying them 200 to 300k less is complete bs in my opinion( btw i've been out 7 yrs and i still feel this way).

Anyways i have already mentioned SOMNIA and Anesthtix the third group i will add is The Detroit Medical Center( or DMC) anesthesia group. its one of the largest if not the largest group in the midwest. It's high priests are a group of Arab anesthesiologists (nothing against Arabs many of whom are very good friends of mine, but its a very close ethnic type of group, having said that i have also seen them throw other arabs under the bus so they are equal opportunity predators, but while a resident there some people did mention that they would give preferential treatment to arab residents, i don't know if this is stll true as this was years ago) who esentally use new grads (pay them 250k with 4 wks of vacation, with the promise of being in partner in 5 years. Perhaps the worse group in the country. work enviroment i have heard from multiple people is extremely bad, and essentially because they have their own residency program they recruit 2 or 3 people out of each years graduating group usually with visa problems, to keep the revolving door going as the inevetiable 2 or 3 people who will leave the group. you are treated like garbage in this group, heard this from multiple sources. However group has been very sucessfull in gaining multiple local hospital contracts in the metro area( how i don't know, perhaps because their size has grown so big), butunderstand group is set up in which the senior partners do very little work, and make all the money, where's the newbies do the riskiest cases(thus risking their license and livlyhood, ) and most of the work. you will constantly be at odds with the crnas, in the group( all of whom are hospital employees( and thus not paid by the group and thus a source of free labor) so the senior parners will always get rid of you over a crna( simply because the crna they're not paying, i have witnessed this multiple times. Anyways this group's reputation is well known, so i don't know how helpful it will be to others but every little piece of in fo helps
