I'm applying for neurology residency this year and currently am getting a little concerned because i've only had 3/10 interviews for the prelim internal medicine programs I've applied to. And I know that one of the 3 places is rather competitive. Was just curious about how many prelim programs you guys applied to for neuro and what is generally a safe number for the number of prelim program interviews you get. Thanks so much, appreciate your answers.

I applied to around a dozen or so. I have interviews at 3, got rejected by 3 (funny when Harvard says you are good enough for them to interview but not good enough for some other place's prelim medicine spots  ) and still waiting from the rest....

Still early yet. Prelims can sometimes be very late at replying. If you receive an interview with the neuro program at the same institution, you can always ask the coordinator on the status of the prelim interview. Just tell them that you're trying to coordinate both in one trip.

Don't freak out just yet.... November just started! Best of luck in the match
