Prelim year

Does anyone going into dermatology ever do a surgery prelim year instead of medicine or transitional? Anyone have an idea about how that would be looked upon by programs if it's something that's even acceptable?

I heard of one case mentioned on this forum at one point. I guess it depends on program restrictions. I know that my program does require me to complete a few specific rotations during PGY1. I'm not sure about others.
